A plain bearing has a metal backing member 1; a layer 2 of bearing metal attached to the member 1; and a micro-layer 3 of metal, which comprises at least 75% zinc and has a thickness of between 0-00005 and 0À00010 inch, attached to the layer 2. The layer 3 may be plated, or applied by vacuum evaporation, on to the layer 2 which may have been coated with a layer of copper to facilitate adhesion. The thickness of the layer 2 should not exceed 0À005 inch. |
