Polymeric compositions comprise a major proportion of polyethylene or a copolymer of ethylene with an alpha-olefin or a mixture thereof, a minor proportion of a copolymer of an alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon with an ethylenic monomer, and a minor proportion of a 2,4,6-trialkyl monohydric phenol. Ethylene copolymers specified are those with propylene, 1 - butene, 1 - pentene, 2 - ethyl-1-hexene and 1-octene. Alkenyl aromatic copolymers specified are those of styrene, alkylstyrenes, alpha-methylstyrene and vinyl naphthalene with acrylonitrile. Trialkyl phenols specified are 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 2,6-di-tert-amyl-p-cresol, 2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenol and 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-ethylphenol, which are used in quantities of less than 1% by weight of the composition. Articles made from the compositions are resistant to cracking.
