A method, an apparatus and a video transmission system for repairing the video data stream, relating to the network communication filed, are provided by the embodiments of the present invention. The problems that too much bandwidth is consumed for transmission because of the improper redundancy of the forward error correction repair stream or the received video data stream can not be repaired completely are solved. The method for repairing the video data stream is applied in the video distribution function entity, and includes: obtaining the information of the user link and the user equipment; generating the forward error correction repair stream according to the information of the user link and the user equipment; transmitting the forward error correction repair stream to the user equipment in order that the lost video data stream can be repaired according to the forward error correction repair stream by the user equipment. The embodiments of the present invention can be applied to repair the video data stream.
