<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store data in an appropriate layer according to data characteristics without increasing processing loads. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of storage devices in the storage system include several kinds of storage devices different in performance. Several kinds of pools are configured on the basis of the plurality of storage devices, and the several kinds of pools belong to different layers, respectively. On the basis of at least one storage device of the same kind, the pool of the kind corresponding to the kind is configured. When a predetermined location change condition is satisfied, a controller in the storage system performs the location change processing of changing the location of the target data stored in a first actual page of the object allocated to a certain virtual page in a virtual volume to an unallocated second actual page in the pool of the second kind which is different from the pool of the first kind having the first actual page.
