PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polysilane thin film absorbing various near-infrared lights and a method for producing the same without requiring any large-scale equipment. SOLUTION: A thin film of a crosslinked polysilane represented by general formula (I) is formed on a substrate and then the absorption spectrum of the crosslinked polysilane thin film is altered by heat treatment to obtain the objective polysilane thin film absorbing near-infrared light, where in the formula, R<SB>1</SB>represents a condensed polycyclic aromatic group; R<SB>2</SB>represents either aryl or a condensed polycyclic aromatic group; R<SB>3</SB>represents alkyl: and x and y each represents an integer.
