PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission miniaturized and simplified in structure by reducing the number of engagement elements. SOLUTION: The automatic transmission includes: a fluid torque converter 1 having a lock-up clutch LC for mechanically connecting a pump Po and a turbine Ta to each other and connected to a power source; and a plurality of planetary gears 5, 6 and 7. The automatic transmission changes rotation of an input member, to which rotation of a power source is input through the fluid torque inverter 1, to a plurality of stages and output it to an output member 8a. The input member is structured of two of a first and a second input members 41 an 42, and the first input member 41 is connected to the turbine Ta, and the second input member 42 is connected to a disc 42a for the second input member, which is interposed in the lock-up clutch LC, and to a ring gear Rm of the planetary gear 6. With engagement of the lock-up clutch LC, rotation of the power source is transmitted, and with release of the lock-up clutch LC, transmission of rotation of the power source is disconnected.
