SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INSPECTING AND REPAIRING VENT TUBE

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to efficiently carry out inspection and repair work inside a vent tube. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Pulleys 25 are placed on a diaphragm floor fixed onto the upper part of the vent tube 17 which allows a dry well 15 in the upper part of a reactor containment vessel to communicate with a suppression chamber 16 in the lower part of it and suspend an elevator 27 which ascends and descend in the vent tube 17. A crane 28 is placed at the bottom of the suppression chamber 16 to hoist and lower the elevator 27. A work device 24 for carrying out various kinds of work is mounted on the elevator 27 so that the device 24 can be attached and detached to carry out the various kinds of work in the vent tube 17.
