The invention describes an apparatus for production of sacks from semi-finished sacks, preferably tube pieces (47), with which sacks of different format can be produced. These are equipped with at least one device for folding of sack bottoms and at least one gluing station for gluing of at least the bottom flaps (31, 32) of the opened bottom square (30, 45) of the sack bottoms, in which glue tracks of different dimensions can be applied with the gluing station at least on the bottom flaps (31, 32). The gluing station is equipped with at least one application head (1), in which at least one application head (1) has a glue application area (37, 38), whose extent is variable in a spatial direction (y), in which at least one of the application heads (1) is again movable relative to the other application heads (1). The maximum application area of at least one application head (1) in the one spatial direction (y) is shorter than the spacing (C) obtained on one side of the bottom center line (35) between the outer edge (31) of the bottom flap of the largest sack format gluable in the gluing station and the center line (35) of the sack.
