<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save power without deteriorating response performance of a terminal in a radio system. <P>SOLUTION: A terminal state switching command is transmitted to both a base station and a terminal by an RF remote controller. When a switching command to a terminal standby state is received from the remote controller, power supply to a receiver is suspended so as not to receive any beacon. When a switching command to a normal state is received from the remote controller, without receiving any beacon, power supply to the receiver is directly started in response to the command from the RF remote controller.
