<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver which cuts out abnormal vertical lines which appear in a left end unit and a right end unit of an image on a screen. <P>SOLUTION: A control unit 2 reads image data developed on an image memory 8A, and writes in a RAM 2A, and investigates from the most left vertical line of the image 90 out of the image data read in. When all dots of the vertical line of the investigation object consist each of the same data, the control unit 2 recognizes the vertical line of the investigation object as an abnormal vertical line. The control unit 2 continues the investigation of the next vertical lines until finding a normal vertical line. If the normal vertical line is found, the control unit 2 cuts out the data on the image memory 8A developed in the all abnormal vertical lines. The right end unit 90B is also processed in the same way.
