<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of obtaining a display image of high visibility even in both indoor and outdoor environment. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device includes a transmission type liquid crystal display panel, a first polarizing plate disposed on a display side thereof and having a first optical axis, a second polarizing plate disposed on the side opposite to the display side of the liquid crystal display panel and having a second optical axis crossing the first optical axis and a reflection polarizer film disposed on the side opposite to the liquid crystal display panel of the second polarizing plate, transmitting light vibrating in a direction parallel to the second optical axis of incident light from the second polarizing plate side and reflecting light vibrating in a direction crossing the second optical axis to the second polarizing plate side. A first diffusion layer is disposed on the second polarizing plate side of the reflection polarizer film. Thereby, a portion of external light made incident from the display side can be efficiently returned to the liquid crystal display panel side. As a result, luminance and the like of the display image can be heightened and the display image of high visibility can be obtained even in both indoor and outdoor environment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
