<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound lathe capable of changing the feeding direction for depth of cut, miniaturizable, and manufacturable at low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The axis of a cutting tool 22a of a tool 22 held on a tool base 4 is directed further horizontal than the X-axis direction in an XY plane. The lathe turns a workpiece while moving the tool base 4 in the axial direction of the cutting tool 22a according to the shape and weight of the workpiece W. Consequently, when the tool the axis of the cutting tool of which is directed in a desired direction is held on the tool base according to the shape and weight of the work W, the lathe can turn the workpiece while feeding the tool base for depth of cut in the axial direction of the cutting tool, thereby enabling accurate machining. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
