<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network repeater capable of operating with a lower power consumption, while securing its processing performance. <P>SOLUTION: The network repeater includes a plurality of distributed processors, a centralized processor, and a mode switch. The network repeater has (i) a distributed processing mode where each of the plurality of distributed processors performs destination search for a received packet and transmits the packet to an external device, and (ii) a centralized processing mode where each of the plurality of distributed processors transmits a received packet to the centralized processor without performing destination search for the received packet.
