<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a customer to visually check, at substantially the same time, an article whose article information is input by reading an article code and the like and article settlement information that is displayed by of the input without being influenced by conditions such as the user's height, standing position and the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In a settlement apparatus 1 for a store that includes: a bar code read device 3 that reads a bar code attached to an article by using scanning light emitted from a read window 8; and a display 4 that displays the read article settlement information, in order to allow a customer to visually check the article and the settlement information at substantially the same time, the display 4 is formed of a transparent member or a semitransparent member and is disposed adjacently to the read window 8.
