<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-liquid separator used as the secondary dehydration mechanism of filter equipment to make it possible not only to sufficiently reduce the liquid content of a treatment target material (cake) but also to enable continuous solid-liquid separation, the filter equipment provided with the solid-liquid separator as the secondary dehydration mechanism and a solid-liquid separation method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A pair of endless separation filter cloths 1 and 8 are superposed one upon another to be wound around the outer periphery of a separation roll 7 rotated in its peripheral direction and a compression belt 15 is further wound around the outer peripheries of the separation filter cloths 1 and 8 to allow a pair of the separation filter cloths 1 and 8 and the compression belt 15 to run along the rotary direction T of the separation roll 7. A treatment target material P supplied to the gap between a pair of the separation filter cloths 1 and 8 is held between the separation filter cloths 1 and 8 on the outer periphery of the separation roll 7 to be compressed by the compression belt 15 and air is passed in the diametric direction of the separation roll 7 to dehydrate the treatment target material P.
