PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic toner having excelling durability and storage property, while satisfying low-temperature fixability, and to provide a binder resin for toner, which is used for the toner. SOLUTION: The binder resin for electrophotographic toner is a condensation-polymerization resin, obtained by condensation polymerization of a carboxylic acid component and an alcohol component containing an aliphatic polyhydric alcohol (alcohol A), having two or more secondary carbon atoms to which hydroxyl groups are bonded, in the presence of an esterification catalyst and a pyrogallol compound that has a benzene ring, in which three hydrogen atoms that lie next to one another are substituted with hydroxyl groups.
