PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for maintaining the performance of a cooling system for an evaporated gas re-liquefying apparatus are provided to limit the temperature of cooling water supplied to an intercooler without multiplying the compression ratio of the refrigerant. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for maintaining the performance of a cooling system comprises a control unit. The control unit controls the volumetric flux of refrigerant. The control unit is installed on the refrigerant circulation line of the front end of the first compressor among multiple compressors(21) of the cooling system. The control unit is a guide vane(50). The intercooler(22) of the cooling system cools the refrigerant compacted by the compressor to the room temperature.
