<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure for efficiently removing toxic substances in exhaust gas by carrying a catalyst and for effectively restraining the increase of a pressure loss. <P>SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure 100 is characterized in that a partition wall 1 has a porosity of 50-80% and an average pore size of 15-70 μm, a weather stripping seal part 6 is formed in cells 4 on the outflow-side end face 3 of a honeycomb structure part 5, the inflow-side ends of the cells 4 are all opened, a notched part 9 is arranged in at least a part of the portion 8 corresponding to a crossing part where one partition wall 1 has a crossing with another partition wall 1, wherein when the length of the notched part 9 in the flow path direction of the cell 4 is denoted as L1, the notched lengths of the partition wall 1 are denoted as t1, t2 and the length of the sealed part 6 is denoted as L2, the size of the notched part is represented by expression 1: (L1-L2)×(t1+t2)/2, and when the total size of all of the notched parts is denoted as W2 and the total area of the cells on the outflow-side end face 3 is denoted as P2, the W2 is 2-50% of the total area P2 of the cells and the L1 is longer than the L2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
