PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly precise optical device stably by preventing molding failure caused by static electricity. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the optical device by loading a heated and softened thermoplastic base material on a mold 2 and pressing, the molding is carried out by mounting the mold 2 in an inert gas g1 atmosphere. In the apparatus 1 for molding using the mold 2 held between an upper heating block 6 and a lower heating block 7 which are arranged in a plurality of numbers in the molding chamber 3, an ion generator 10 and a supply pipe 9 for supplying the ionized inert gas g1 are provided in a molding chamber 3 to prevent the static charge of the thermoplastic base material 25 mounted at the center of the mold 2 in the molding chamber 3 and to prevent the molding defect due to the displacement in a cavity 26.
