PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing coated printing paper having low density, high in whiteness and opacity, excellent in surface strength in offset printing, and hardly causing blister. SOLUTION: The production method of coated printing paper includes coating a coating liquid containing pigments and an adhesive on base paper by a film transfer method, which base paper is produced by paper-making of a paper stock of hardwood chemi-thermomechanical pulp with 95 wt.% or more passing through a 24-mesh screen and 10 wt.% or more passing through a 42-mesh screen when the pulp of 10-80 wt.% is measured based on JIS P8207.
