PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase plate thickness of a sliding portion of a front cover which slides with a friction material of a lock-up piston. SOLUTION: This lock-up clutch for a fluid coupling device includes the front cover 1 rotatably supported and connected at one side to an engine crankshaft, a fluid coupling 6 connected to an outer periphery on the other side of the front cover 1, the lock-up piston 10 rotatably and movably supported in the axial direction between the fluid coupling 6 and the front cover 1, a damper 8 arranged between the lock-up piston 10 and the fluid coupling 6, and a turbine hub 9 to which an output side rotary member 8b of the damper 8 and a turbine 3 for the fluid coupling 6 are joined and which is connected to the input shaft of a transmission. On an outer peripheral porion on one side of the lock-up piston 10, the friction material 15 is provided along the circumferential direction so as to be thrust against the other side of the front cover 1. To the opposite face of the front cover 1 opposite to the friction material 15, an annular sliding member 16 is joined which slides with the friction material 15. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
