<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, satisfying fixability of recording paper with maximum printable width and restraining an excessive temperature rise of a non-paper passing part when recording paper with a width ranking as second to the maximum printable width is put to one side and passed. <P>SOLUTION: The full length of a heating resistor of a heater is set larger than the maximum printable width, and electric resistance per unit length of an end area of the heating resistor is made smaller than that in the central area. The position of a boundary between the central area and the end area is set so that when the position of the side end of the recording paper with the maximum printable width is placed in the end area and the recording paper with a width ranking second to the above is put to one side, the position of the side end of the other side is placed in the central area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
