<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a horizontal shuttle for a sewing machine which prevents a lubricant from spreading from sliding surfaces between an eccentric wheel and a link, when the eccentric wheel fixed to a shuttle shaft is rotated during the operation of the sewing machine, and which prevents the lubricant from adhering about a shuttle base, or adhering to a thread or cloth on a needle plate. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The horizontal shuttle for the sewing machine includes: the eccentric wheel 10 fixed to the shuttle shaft 7 with a screw 10a, in the shuttle base 2; the link 11 having one end relatively rotatably fitted around the eccentric wheel 10, in the shuttle base 2; and an association mechanism 14 for transmitting the movement of the other end of the link 11 to an opener 18.
