<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat base for merchandise display which effectively cools food displayed on a deck. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The flat base 1 for the food display includes the deck 4 for food display on the upper part of a base 2 and is formed so as to change an inclination angle of the deck 4 by elevating the rear part side of the deck 4 centering on the front end part thereof. In the flat base 1, a refrigerant flow path 12 where a refrigerant is circulated is provided on the part of the bottom plate 10 of the deck. The refrigerant flow path 12 can be a pipe for refrigerant circulation attached to the back surface of the bottom plate or can be molded integrally with the bottom plate.
