<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polymer fuel cell with high power generation efficiency and of a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: Gas diffusion layers 14, 15 are laminated on the outside of an MEA 13 having an electrolyte membrane and a catalyst electrode layer, fluid passage layers 16, 17 are laminated on the outside of the gas diffusion layers, and metallic cooling plates (separator) 12 are laminated on the outside of the fluid passage layers. Current collection members 20, 21 for extracting power generation output in the MEA 13 are installed on the gas diffusion layers 14, 15 in conduction. A seal member 23 which airtightly shuts off the current collection members 20, 21 from the fluid passage layers 16, 17 and electrically insulates from the fluid passage layers 16, 17 and the cooling plates 12 is installed. Since a conventional high-cost metallic porous member to serve as the gas diffusion layer and the current collector is not used and, in place of this, the fluid passage layers 16, 17 which do not require conductivity and the metallic cooling plate (separator) 12 having corrosion resistance are used, low cost and high power generation efficiency are attained. Furthermore, corrosion resistance of the current collection members 20, 21 is not required, thereby low cost is attained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
