<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an umbrella having a function which automatically folds umbrella panel stretched between ribs in a manner wrapping the ribs and a shaft when the umbrella is closed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The umbrella (shown in Fig.1) includes the shaft 1, the ribs 2, and the umbrella panel 3, wherein the panel is automatically folded when the umbrella is closed. A panel curving means 5 (shown in Fig.2a) is installed that causes the panel 3 to be folded along an intermediate fold 4 formed radially in the middle of the panel 3a stretched between the two ribs 2 and that wraps the panel curved in both or one of the panel folding sections on both sides of the intermediate fold 4 to the ribs 2, wherein the panel curving means 5 is attached to the ribs 2. As a result, the panel can be compactly folded without touching the panel 3 getting wet in the rain.
