PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that contents required to be copied by a user may be deleted because the number of remaining copyable times of each content is not considered when determining contents to be deleted due to shortage in an empty capacity of a storage means. SOLUTION: The recording/reproducing apparatus compares an empty capacity value of a built-in storage means with a threshold to determine whether the empty capacity is short or not. When determining the shortage of the empty capacity, the recording/reproducing apparatus confirms that another recording apparatus connected to the external is in a state capable of transferring contents stored in the storage means. The recording/reproducing apparatus determines the priority of a plurality of contents to be transferred to the other recording apparatus by the number of remaining copyable times of each content and transfers the contents based on the priority.
