PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line-change type current-limiting device capable of reducing manufacturing and maintenance costs and improving the current-limiting performance by changing a line, while a cut-off switch is operated with fault current self-energy, enabling immediate recovery, by automatically and quickly reacting at the time of generation of fault current and having active and passive actions. SOLUTION: The line-change type current-limiting device includes a coupled inductor formed by a primary side connected to a main circuit and a secondary side adjusted to the primary side; a Zener-diode switch electrically connected to a secondary side of the coupled inductor; a line-change switch connected to the Zener-diode switch and the primary side of the inductor and forming a bypass line in parallel, at the primary side of the coupled inductor at turning-on of the Zener-diode switch; and a current-limiting section electrically connected to the line-change switch in parallel and limiting the current that circulates in the main circuit.
