<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handle bar adjusting mechanism which is protected from the outside world, has high rigidity in a stretch adjustment part, and is adjustable at multiple stages. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the handle bar stretching mechanism of a two wheeled vehicle comprising right/left handle bars 5, 6 slidably mounted on a center pipe 2, the pair of right/left slide parts are overlappingly slidable with inner ends of the right/left handle bars 5, 6 in the center pipe 2, and the inner ends are freely fastened with the center pipe 2. Thus, the pair of right/left slide parts comprising the stretch adjustment part protected from the outside world in the center pipe 2 are collectively fastened with an area with a relatively wide cross-section circular surface with respect to the center pipe 2 in the overlapped part. Thus, the high fastening strength is secured at low surface pressure.
