<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical compensation film having a large retardation in a film thickness direction by coating. <P>SOLUTION: The optical compensation film made of a transparent resin and coating films having at least one or more layers has a relation of three-dimensional refractive indices of nx≈ny>nz when optional two axes orthogonal to each other in an in-plane of the coating films are defined as an axis x and an axis y and an outer-plane direction is defined as an axis z and when refractive indices of the axis x direction, the axis y direction and axis z direction are defined as nx, ny and nz, respectively, and has birefringence ΔP of 0.007 or more in the thickness direction in ≤10 μm thickness of each coating layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
