<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf club head preserving light weight of a face part, limiting a resiliency of the face part within a range conforming to a rule and capable of preventing resilient properties from decreasing even when a ball is hit apart from the sweet spot. <P>SOLUTION: The face part 10 includes a thick part 16 located in the middle, an outer peripheral part 12 located in the outer periphery of the thick part 16 and thin parts 14 located partly between the parts 16 and 12. The thick part 16 has an elliptic figure 13 that has approximately circular and recessed shapes in both ends of the long axis to the center; a recess 15b in a toe side is inclined in a sole direction; and a recess 15a in a heel side is inclined in a crown direction. The thick part 16 has a most thick part in the center 17 of the face part 10 and becomes gradually thinner to the peripheral part 12. Each of the thin part 14 is located in an area surrounded by either end of the figure 13 and the recess 15a or 15b. The thick part 16 is thicker than the peripheral part 12.
