PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a massage machine preventing a misuse, improving a cushion property without lowering a massage property and compatibly attaining the massage function and a sofa function. SOLUTION: This chair-type massage machine 1 includes a seat section 2 having a seating surface, and a backrest 3 having massage means 4. This massage machine is provided with: a back cushion 5 detachably disposed to the backrest 3; a detecting means 6 for detecting the disposition of the back cushion 5; a control means 8 for controlling the operation of the massage means 4 matched with the detected disposition of the back cushion 5; and a notification means notifying about the disposition of the back cushion 5, wherein the notification means calls attention whether the back cushion 5 is appropriately disposed or not, or issues a warning when the disposition of the back cushion 5 detected by the detecting means 6 is inappropriate.
