PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type projector which prevents, for example, glass pieces falling from the projection type projector from contacting with, for example, a worker or a passerby when a lamp unit is pulled out from the projection type projector to replace a lamp, without having a mechanically complicated structure in the projection type projector used by being hanged from a ceiling. SOLUTION: The projection type projector 1 of a present technology is the projection type projector 1 which can be hanged by a ceiling mounting hanger 5, and is configured by having the lamp unit including the lamp as a light source, the lamp cover 2 which covers a storage hole of the lamp unit, and a lock mechanism which restricts release of a lamp cover 2 by a ceiling mounting hanger attaching screw 6 which is inserted to the inside of the projection type projector 1 when the projection type projector 1 is hanged by the ceiling mounting hanger 5.
