<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish connection between a programmable display unit and a PLC, with ease and without incorrect setup, when the portable programmable display unit is used by switching the connection between a plurality of the PLCs. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Conversion adapters 21-24 are respectively connected to a plurality of the PLCs 11-14 to which the IP address is set up. ID corresponding to the IP addresses of the connected PLCs 11-14 is set up to the conversion adapters 21-24, respectively. A portable programmable display unit 30 stores the list in which the IP addresses set up in each of the PLCs 11-14 are associated with the ID of respective conversion adapters 21-24. The programmable display unit acquires the ID from the connected conversion adapter 21, identifies the IP address corresponding to the ID from the list, sets up it in a communication driver, communicates with the PLC11 in which the IP address is set via the conversion adapter 21.
