A yarn clearing arrangement in which cutting members 4, 12 cut the yarn on receipt of a cutting impulse includes means 13, 14 for simultaneously clamping that end of the yarn that is approaching the cutting point. As shown the slide 4 is biassed to the left by a spring 9 but is held against movement by a lug 10 of the slide 4 resting against a pin 11. A cutting impulse causes the pin 11 to be retracted whereupon the slide 4 is pulled to the left by the spring 9 to cause the cutting edges 4, 12 to sever the yarn. Simultaneously the yarn end approaching the cutting edges is firmly held between a clamping rod 13 and the lug 10.</p> |
