PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair allowing a user to comfortably lean on the backrest by enlarging a backward turning range of the backrest with respect to a seat. SOLUTION: Upward-directed backrest pivots 7a are integrally and consecutively connected from both the sides of the back of a seat 5, forward-directed side pieces 10 provided at the lower portions in both the sides of the backrest 9 are rotationally pivoted to the outer side faces of the backrest pivots 7a by a horizontal spindle 11 so that the lower portion of the backrest 9 is backward separated from the rear end of the seat 5, and the back faces of the backrest pivot parts 7a and the lower front face of the backrest 9 facing thereto are formed into arcuate shapes, with the spindle 11 defined as their center, in the side view.
