PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile electronic device capable of avoiding the contention processing of applications and improving usability. SOLUTION: The mobile electronic device includes: a rotary dial unit 41 attached so as to be rotated around a prescribed rotary axis to a casing; a rotation amount detection unit 201 for detecting the rotation of the rotary dial unit 41; an application activation processing unit 202 for determining and activating one of the plurality of applications on the basis of the rotation detected by the rotation amount detection unit 201; and an application execution decision unit 203 for determining whether the application determined in the application activation processing unit 202 is under execution. When it is determined in the application execution decision unit 203 that the application determined in the application activation processing unit 202 is under execution, the application activation processing unit 202 stops the activation of the application.
