<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of a membrane-electrode assembly suppressing deterioration and breakage of an electrolyte membrane in the outer peripheral region of an electrode by suppressing the generation of hydrogen peroxide at an electrode end part in a fuel cell and the diffusion of hydrogen peroxide to the outer peripheral region of the electrode, to provide its constituent material, its manufacturing method, and to provide a fuel cell using the membrane-electrode assembly. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell is configured such that at least one of an anode and a cathode is embedded in a solid polymer electrolyte membrane, and the thickness of an electrolyte in the periphery of the electrode is larger than the sum of the thickness of the electrode between electrodes, the thickness of the anode and the thickness of the cathode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
