PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coated paper having high opacity and excellent gravure printability, and to provide a method for producing the same in high productivity. SOLUTION: The method for printing the coated paper for gravure printing use includes the following steps: Base paper containing 10-60 wt.%, on the total pulp basis, of broadleaf chemithermomechanical pulp(CTMP) with 95 wt.% of pulp fiber passing through a 24-mesh screen and 10 wt.% of more of pulp fiber not passing through the 42-mesh screen, when measured in accordance with JIS P8207, and containing less than 5 wt.% of GP(ground wood pulp) is provided with a coating layer essentially consisting of a pigment and an adhesive followed by conducting a calendering treatment.
