PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an liquid injection apparatus which can switch a liquid to be injected from a nozzle array, and also can make effective and sure liquid switching. SOLUTION: The liquid injection apparatus to inject a liquid has: a nozzle array for injecting the liquid; two or more liquid supply means for supplying the liquid for supplying the liquid to the nozzle array; a switching means for switching the supply route to the nozzle array from the liquid supply means so as to switch the liquid to be supplied; an injection failure detection means for detecting an injection failure; a first cleaning means for cleaning nozzles; a second cleaning means for doing cleaning using a less amount of liquid than that used by the first cleaning means; and a control means for executing a switching process consisting of the switching by the switching means and the cleaning by the second cleaning means, making the injection failure detection means detect the injection failure of the nozzle array to switch the liquid before and after the switching process, and also making the first cleaning means execute the cleaning by the first cleaning means when the injection failure is detected.
