<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus for easily performing even pseudo-halftone processing with many output gradations fast and also performing systematized pseudo-halftone processing without depending upon the number of output gradations. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus which performs pseudo-halftone processing by error diffusion processing on multivalued image data comprising a plurality of density components performs quantization by the plurality of density components, determines a correction value for a quantization output value by comparing the sum of a negative sign of a quantization error of each density component and a quantization error of the each density component with a threshold, and spreads quantization errors after correcting the quantization output value with the correction value.
