PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting a gas leakage point which can detect gas leakage with certainty and ease. SOLUTION: A gas leakage detecting sheet 1 is a white sheet, such as paper and nonwoven cloth, having liquid absorptivity, permeability, and flexibility. The sheet carries phenolphthalein, which is a pH indicator in a state of being submerged and dried. The gas leakage detecting sheet 1 is sprayed with an alkali solution from a reagent atomizer 3 so that it reacts with the phenolphthalein and develops in red. The colored gas leakage detecting sheet 1 is wrapped around a gas leakage inspection point, and carbon dioxide gas is pressure-fed as a tracer gas. When gas leakage occurs at the gas leakage inspection point, the coloring state of such a portion of the gas leakage detecting sheet that contacts the leaked carbon dioxide gas is eliminated, and restoring it to an original white material.
