<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing apparatus capable of accurately showing the pronunciations of a first conversation language such as Japanese to people who can read a second conversation language such as English. <P>SOLUTION: A first storage unit 110 stores the phonograms of a first conversation language such as Japanese and the phonetic symbols of a second conversation language such as English in association. A second storage unit 120 stores the words of a second language such as English words and their phonetic symbols in association. Under this condition, a word of a first language such as a Japanese word is input to a word input unit 150 in the form of phonograms such as Hiragana. A first search unit 130 searches the first storage unit 110 for phonetic symbols corresponding to the phonograms. A second search unit 140 searches the second storage unit 120 for at least part of at least one word of the second language correspondingly to the phonetic symbols found.
