PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an electrophotographic toner which suppresses the lowering of image density over a long period of time and enables to stably form a high-quality image, and an image forming method using the same. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic toner is used in an image forming apparatus including an amorphous silicon photoreceptor and has an external additive added to toner base particles including at least a binder resin, wherein a ratio of the number distribution of particles whose particle diameter is≤4.0μm in all particles contained in the electrophotographic toner is≤8.0%; a standard deviation (SD) of the volume distribution is≤1.25; a ratio of particles whose particle diameter is≤3.0μm in the external addition-treated toner is≤5.0%; and an average circularity of particles whose particle diameter is 3-10μm in the toner is≥0.945.
