PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a fuel transfer flow rate of a fuel pump from dropping below an allowable range when a motor for the fuel pump is operated in low voltage. SOLUTION: A controller to control the motor for the fuel pump includes a voltage applying unit 43 capable of applying a high voltage or low voltage to the motor 20 for the fuel pump, and a voltage switching ECU which outputs a voltage switching signal to the voltage applying unit 43 so that a high voltage is applied temporarily to the motor 20 for the fuel pump at predetermined timing when the motor 20 for the fuel pump operates at a low voltage. The high voltage is determined to be a voltage causing electric discharge between a commutator and a brush to destroy an electric resistance film generated between the commutator and the brush by a discharge energy, thus suppresses the growth of the electric resistance film.
