The system (0) has a catalyzed particle filter (CSF) (3), a selective catalytic reduction catalyst (4), a reducing fluid injector (41) for injecting reducing fluid i.e. urea, and an oxidation catalyst (2) for converting a part of nitric oxide into nitrogen dioxide. A LNR catalyst (1) i.e. selective nitrogen oxide reduction catalyst, is placed in upstream of the system and is made of ceramics or metal. The LNR catalyst has a substrate that is coated with material whose thermal absorption opening corresponds to thermal opening of the selective reduction catalyst. An independent claim is also included for a method for treating pollutant gas emissions from a diesel engine.
