PURPOSE: A method and a device for controlling the charge of a portable terminal are provided to efficiently use power for charging a battery by controlling the amount of the charge of the battery. CONSTITUTION: A connector unit(140) is connected to an adaptor for charging. A battery(180) is charged with the power provided from the adaptor for charging. A power supply unit(170) inspects and controls the power supplied from the battery. A controller(160) controls the power supply to charge the battery with a first charging amount. The controller controls the power supply to charge the battery with a second charging amount after one hour. The controller determines the charge amount of the battery based on the variation of the charge current supplied to the battery.
