PURPOSE: A device for driving a backlight unit is provided to economically and effectively improve a current difference between lamps. CONSTITUTION: A transformer(165) boosts AC power provided from a DC/AC converting unit. A positive AC signal compensating circuit(190a) compensates for the current difference of first and second lamps using an positive AC signal provided to the first and second lamps. A negative AC signal compensating circuit(190b) compensates for the current difference of the first and second lamps using a negative AC signal provided to the first and second lamps.
