The arrangement has a rigid lower housing (7) i.e. pedestal, situated at the proximity of a floor (5) of a motor vehicle. An upper retaining unit i.e. elastic strap (10), retains a long object (8) i.e. breadstick, and is vertically aligned with the lower housing. The upper retaining unit and the lower housing are fixed with respect to one another on a lateral wall (6) of a central console (2). The lower housing is formed of a textile material panel i.e. netbag (9), that is fixed on the wall by lateral bars mounted vertically.
