A treated material 1 is obtained by chemically adsorbing organic molecular chains 5 onto a surface of active material 3. A bonding force between the active mass 3 and organic molecular chains 5 is 40-400 kJ/mol. In a case where the bonding force between the active material 3 and organic molecular chains 5 is 40-400 kJ/mol, when the treated active material 1 is used as an electrode active material of a secondary battery or the like, the charge-discharge characteristic of the secondary battery can be maintained at a good level over a long period.
